Cuida Avilés: A Collaborative Platform for Reporting Local Issues

Cuida Avilés is a collaborative platform developed by Ayuntamiento de Avilés that allows citizens to report, view, and discuss local problems, and have them addressed by the responsible authorities simply by locating them on a map. The project aims to actively involve residents in taking care of their neighborhoods and collaborate with municipal management.

The main purpose of Cuida Avilés is to report things that are in poor condition, dirty, or functioning illegally or improperly, and that need to be fixed or monitored. It serves as a mechanism to get in touch with the local government, but not for all types of issues. For problems such as theft, assault, noise pollution, or emergencies, users are advised to directly contact the appropriate authorities.

Upon entering a street or location, users are presented with a map of Avilés. They can view existing reported issues in the area or create their own incidents by simply clicking on the map at the problem location and creating an account to receive a confirmation email for their report.

The incidents are sent to the responsible officials at the Ayuntamiento via email to be channeled to the respective department. The Ayuntamiento then addresses the problem in their usual manner and within the appropriate timeframe. Alternatively, users can use the platform to discuss the issue with others and collectively approach the Ayuntamiento for a solution.
